In April we enjoyed a family camping trip to Woody Head in Bundjalung National Park, near Iluka. My family love staying at Woody Head for Easter because the weather is comfortable, the scenery is spectacular and it’s good fun catching up with friends around a campfire.

Amongst other things, the kids enjoy riding their mountain bikes, going fishing, swimming, and playing chess and ball games. One morning we hiked for two hours through the World Heritage rain forest from Iluka to The Bluff, then back along the beach.
Playing chess and having fun!

Iluka is a superb fishing location with so many options for beach, rock and river fishing. I caught an 18.4kg tuna on the Iluka wall that took over 20 minutes to land! Feeling totally exhausted but happy I lifted the fish for the photo and got covered in blood.
18.4kg Longtail Tuna (aka Northern Bluefin Tuna) caught off the rock wall at Iluka on a live garfish. To the left of this photo is the Clarence River and Yamba is on the other side of the river.
School holidays are over but we had fun camping and look forward to our next trip!
